Prof. Peter Sefcik was born in Bad Griesbach of Bavaria in 1945. He grew up in Hamburg where he completed his secondary school certificate and a banking apprenticeship. He studied singing at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover where he completed his studies in 1970 and obtained a higher education degree as a music teacher with an artistic diploma.

On finishing his studies he started having a busy concert schedule in Germany as well as abroad. At that time he started taking private lessons with the infamous german bass, Willi Domgraf-Fassbaender, a great influence in his decision that an artistic-pedagogical specialization might be his professional focus in the future.

From 1970 to 2002 Peter Sefcik worked as a voice coach at Hannover boys choir. He was responsible of some of the soloists in the authentic recording of all 193 sacred Bach cantatas, conducted by Gustav Leonhard and Nikolais Harnoncourt in a common project with Tölzer Knabenchor. This period includes the cooperation with Philipp Herreweghe concerning recordings of works of Orlando di Lasso among others, concerts with boy soloists, such as J. S. Bach’s St Matthew Passion and Christmas Oratorio.

Hereafter he continued his career with teaching assignments at Hochschule Hannover and Hochschule Essen.

In 1990 Peter Sefcik was offered a professorship at Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg where he stayed for 12 years.

In 2006 Peter Sefcik became voice coach and supervisor for soloists at Tölzer Knabenchor.

Peter Sefcik has trained boy soloists for Mahler’s Song of Lament, Mozart’s Magic Flute, Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande and Händel’s Alcina at houses and orchestras such as the Berlin Philarmonics, the Vienna State Opera, the Dresden Semper Opera, the Aix-en-Provence Festival, the Gran Teatre del Liceu of Barcelona, the Zurich Opera.

In addition he has offered classes and workshops for students at several music colleges and universities in Europe and in the U.S.A.

Ο καθηγητής Peter Sefcik γεννήθηκε στο Bad Griesbach της Βαυαρίας το 1945. Μεγάλωσε στο Αμβούργο, όπου και ολοκλήρωσε τις σπουδές του με πρακτική τραπέζης. Σπούδασε το τραγούδι στο Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover, ολοκληρώνοντας τις σπουδές του το 1970 όπου απέκτησε τον τίτλο ανώτατης εκπαίδευσης ως εγκεκριμένος δάσκαλος μουσικής με δίπλωμα καλλιτέχνη.

Με την ολοκλήρωση των σπουδών του απέκτησε ένα βεβαρημένο πρόγραμμα συναυλιών τόσο στην Γερμανία όσο και το εξωτερικό. Εκείνη την περίοδο ξεκίνησε ιδιαίτερα μαθήματα με τον φημισμένο Γερμανό μπάσο, Willi Domgraf-Fassbaender, ο οποίος τον επηρέασε στην απόφαση του να εστιάσει στο μέλλον σε μια καλλιτεχνική-παιδαγωγική ειδίκευση.

Από το 1970 μέχρι το 2002 ο Peter Sefcik εργάστηκε ως φωνητικός προπονητής στη Hamburger Knabbenchor (Χορωδία Αγοριών του Αμβούργου). Ήταν υπεύθυνος για κάποιους από τους σολίστ στην αυθεντική ηχογράφηση όλων των 193 καντάτων του J. S. Bach, υπο τη διεύθυνση του Gustav Leonhard και του Nikolais Harnoncourt σε ένα κοινό project με την Tölzer Knabenchor.

Αυτή η περίοδος περιλαμβάνει την συνεργασία του με τον Philipp Herreweghe για την ηχογράφηση των έργων του Orlando di Lasso, μεταξύ άλλων και συναυλίες με νεαρούς σολίστ για το Κατα Ματθαίον Πάθος και το Χριστουγεννιάτικο Ορατόριο του J. S. Bach.

Στην συνέχεια δίδαξε στις ακαδημίες, Hochschule für Musik Essen και στο Hochschule für Musik Hannover. Το 1990 του προσφέρθηκε έδρα στην κρατική ακαδημία Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg την οποία διατήρησε για 16 χρόνια.

Από το 2006 ο Peter Sefcik άρχισε να δουλεύει ως φωνητικός προπονητής και υπεύθυνος για την προετοιμασία των σολίστ της Tölzer Knabenchor.

Ο Peter Sefcik έχει εκπαιδεύσει νεαρούς σολίστ για το Song of Lament του Mahler, το Μαγικό Αυλό του Mozart, το Pelléas et Mélisande του Debussy και την Alcina του Händel για συνεργασίες με ορχήστρες και θέατρα όπως η Φιλαρμονική Ορχήστρα του Βερολίνου, η Κρατική Όπερα της Βιέννης, η Semper Όπερα της Δρέσδης, το Φεστιβάλ Aix-en-Provence Festival, το Gran Teatre del Liceu της Βαρκελώνης.

Επιπρόσθετα έχει προσφέρει σειρά masterclass και σεμηναρίων για μαθητές σε διάφορα μουσικά κολλέγια και πανεπιστήμια της Ευρώπης και των Η.Π.Α
