Aléxandros Emmanuil Velonis was born on the Island of Rhodes (Greece) to sculptor, painter and goldsmith Dimitrios, and etcher Ekaterini. He took his first musical instruction in Rhodes, though his intense studies began with his arrival in Athens in 2009. Here he studied piano with the Russian pianist Valery Ismagolov and advanced music theory, aesthetics of music and musicological research with Constantine Carambelas- Sgourdas. He was also lucky to study with the great pianist and pedagogue Manona Freeman, daughter of the legendary Woldermar Freeman, the professor of Gina Bachauer. In May 2010 he took part in the demanding Second Maria Cherogiorgou International Piano Competition (junior category), from which he won a special promising artist distinction. Subsequently in December 2011, he received the Junior Bachauer Prize-Scholarship, nominated by the Gina Bachauer International Music Association. The same year he received the Harmony Specialist Degree with excellence and in 2013 the Counterpoint Degree again with excellence, before moving to London to study with Graham Fitch.

In January 2014 he received a scholarship by the distinguished American pianist, Dr. Ray Luck to study with him in Florida. The same year he became a student of the Heribert Koch with whom he completed his studies in 2017, recieving with distinction the Licentiate Piano Recital Diploma of the Trinity College of Music, London.

He has taken part in master-classes with numerous internationally acclaimed artists: France Clidat (France), Ray Luck (U.S.A.), Heribert Koch (Germany), Alberto Portugheis (UK - Argentina), Ruth Nye (UK) Heyound Park (France), George Hatzinikos (Greece – UK).

In 2016 he published his first book in Greece, a musicological narration under the title Giacomo Meyerbeer: His times and the Grand Opèra. As a soloist he has appeared on the concert platform in various prestigious venues, such as the Achillion (the palace of Emperess Sissy) in Corfu, the Athens Concert Hall/Megaron, the Saroglion Megaro (Officer's Club of the armed forces) in Athens, the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff, the Wesley Chapel and the St Brides Church in London among others.

In August 2017 he was honoured by the Regional Government of South Aegean, for his contribution to the arts through the International Music Festival - Pro Musica Rhodos, of which he is artistic director.

In 2017 he decided to switch his focus to orchestral conducting, beggining studies with the renowned conductor Prof Florian Ludwig. In this field he has been gaining practical experience in the theatres of Koblenz and Chemnitz, the Munich Radio Orchestra, the Moravian Philarmonic Orchestra, the Savaria Symphony Orchestra, as well as the Symphony Orchestras of Athens and Szolnok while most recently, in September 2022 he had his debut with the Athens State Orchestra.

Ο Αλέξανδρος Εμμανουήλ Βελώνης γεννήθηκε στο νησί της Ρόδου, γόνος του χρυσοχόου, ζωγράφου και γλύπτη Δημητρίου και της χαράκτριας Αικατερίνης. Έλαβε την πρώτη του μουσική εκπαίδευση στη Ρόδο, αν και οι εντατικές του σπουδές ξεκίνησαν με την άφιξη του στην Αθήνα το 2009. Εδώ σπούδασε με τον Ρώσο πιανίστα, Valery Ismagilov και ανώτερα θεωρητικά της μουσικής, αισθητική της μουσικής και μουσικολογική έρευνα με τον Κωνσταντίνο Καράμπελα-Σγούρδα. Είχε την τύχη να σπουδάσει επίσης με την μεγάλη πιανίστα και παιδαγωγό Manona Freeman-Παπαδάκη, κόρη του θρυλικού Woldermar Freeman, καθηγητή της Gina Bachauer. Τον Μάιο του 2010 έλαβε μέρος στον απαιτητικό Δεύτερο Διεθνή Διαγωνισμό Πιάνου Μαρία Χαιρογιώργου Σιγάρα (κατηγορία junior), από τον οποίο απέσπασε την ειδική διάκριση υποσχόμενου καλλιτέχνη. Εν συνεχεία τον Δεκέμβριο του 2011, έλαβε το βραβείο-υποτροφία Gina Bachauer Junior, από το Διεθνές Μουσικό Σωματείο Gina Bachauer. Το ίδιο έτος έλαβε το Πτυχίο Ειδικού Αρμονίας με άριστα παμψηφεί και το 2013 το Πτυχίο Αντίστιξης και πάλι με άριστα παμψηφεί, πριν μετοικήσει στο Λονδίνο για να σπουδάσει με τον Βρετανό πιανίστα, Graham Fitch.

Τον Ιανουάριο του 2014 έλαβε ένα χορήγημα από τον διακεκριμένο Αμερικανό πιανίστα, Professor Ray Luck για να σπουδάσει μαζί του για είκοσι ημέρες στη Φλόριντα. Το ίδιο έτος έγινε μαθητής του διάσημου παιδαγωγού Heribert Koch με τον οποίο ολοκλήρωσε τις σπουδές το 2017, λαμβάνοντας με διάκριση το Licentiate Piano Recital Diploma του Trinity College of Music, του Λονδίνου.

Έχει συμμετάσχει ως ενεργό μέλος σε σειρά σεμιναρίων και masterclasses από διεθνώς αναγνωρισμένους καλλιτέχνες: France Clidat (Γαλλία), Ray Luck (Η.Π.Α.), Heribert Koch (Γερμανία), Alberto Portugheis (Ην. Βασίλειο - Αργεντινή), Ruth Nye (Ην. Βασίλειο) Heyound Park (Γαλλία), Γιώργος Χατζηνίκος (Ελλάδα – Ην. Βασίλειο).

To 2016 έκδοσε το πρώτο του βιβλίο στην Ελλάδα, μια μουσικολογική διήγηση, υπο τον τίτλο Giacomo Meyerbeer: Η εποχή του και η Grand Opèra. Ως σολίστας έχει εμφανιστεί στη σκηνή διαφόρων γλαφυρών χώρων, όπως το Αχίλλειον (Παλάτι της Αυτοκράτηρας Σίσυ) στην Κέρκυρα, το Μέγαρο Μουσικής Αθηνών, το Σαρόγλειον Μεγαρο (Λέσχη Αξιωματικών Ενόπλων Δυνάμεων) στην Αθήνα, το Wales Millennium Centre στο Cardiff, το Wesley Chapel και τη St Brides Church στο Λονδίνο, μεταξύ άλλων. Τον Αύγουστο του 2017 βραβεύτηκε από την Περιφέρεια Νοτίου Αιγαίου για την προσφορά του στις τέχνες, μέσω του Διεθνούς Φεστιβάλ Μουσικής - Pro Musica Rhodos, του οποίου είναι καλλιτεχνικός διευθυντής.

Το 2017 έστρεψε την προσοχή του στη διεύθυνση ορχήστρας ξεκινώντας σπουδές με τον περίφημο Γερμανό μαέστρο Prof Florian Ludwig. Συλλογή πρακτικής εμπειρίας σε αυτό τον τομέα τον έχει μέχρι στιγμής οδηγήσει στα θέατρα της Koblenz και του Chemnitz, τη Ραδιοφωνική Ορχήστρα του Μονάχου, την Φιλαρμονική Ορχήστρα της Μοραβίας, την Συμφωνική Ορχήστρα Savaria, όπως επίσης τις Συμφωνικές Ορχήστρες Αθηνών και Szolnok, ενώ πιο πρόσφατα το Σεπτέμβριο του 2022 έκανε το ντεμπούτο του με την Κρατική Ορχήστρα Αθηνών.
